Customer
North American multichannel retailer
Background
A North American multichannel retailer sells products through its own Shopify store while also operating across several online marketplaces including Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, Overstock and Home Depot.
In addition, the business partners with smaller ecommerce websites that either submit orders by email or require custom integrations. SAP Business One remains the ERP and source of truth for inventory and operations.
Before
Every morning the operations team had to collect orders from each sales channel before fulfillment could begin.
Challenges
Marketplace orders required downloading spreadsheets and importing them into SAP after several manual steps.
After shipping, tracking numbers had to be manually copied back into marketplaces or emailed to customers.
Microsoft Access and custom scripts became difficult to maintain as new marketplaces were added.
EDI remained necessary for some trading partners but was expensive and unsuitable for newer marketplace integrations.
Each sales channel followed a different workflow, making operations difficult to monitor.
Decision
The customer wanted one platform capable of supporting modern marketplace automation while fitting into the SAP Business One and EDI processes already running the business.
Solution
Order Sources
Connected through Okomano's native Shopify application.
Connected using official marketplace APIs where available.
Orders can be imported by uploading files or email content. Okomano uses AI to extract structured order information and convert it into a standardized format.
Existing EDI integrations remain unchanged. Orders already arriving in SAP Business One are imported into Okomano so users can manage all orders from one place regardless of how they were received.
Orders are automatically sent to ShipStation. Once shipped, SAP Business One is updated, marketplace tracking numbers are updated automatically, and shipping confirmation emails can be sent when required.
Results
Marketplace and website orders no longer require spreadsheet manipulation or manual SAP entry.
Regardless of where an order originates, operations are managed through a single platform.
Adding new marketplaces no longer requires building another Microsoft Access workflow or custom script.
Operations teams can monitor all orders from one centralized dashboard.
Tracking information is synchronized automatically instead of being copied manually.
Modern APIs replace older manual import processes while still supporting existing EDI partners.
Features Used
The implementation combined ecommerce integrations, SAP Business One workflows, shipping automation and centralized order management.
